Bigham & Sparta Insulation
Bigham Insulation & Supply Co., Inc. (formerly Broward Insulation) was established 1958 in Miami, Florida by its owner A. D. Bigham. We have now been in business 58 years. This was a dream of Mr. Bigham and he built a business that has had as many as 200 employees at one time. We are the oldest insulation supply and contracting business in South Florida and more likely the oldest in the southeast.
In 1970 Mr. Bigham had another vision and formed Sparta Insulation Company to accommodate his contracting vision. He felt the most qualified personnel to establish the best contracting business in South Florida was to become a Union Contractor and hire the best journeymen available to the industry. So the decision was made to be a Union Contractor and draw from the local insulation chapter, The International Association of Heat & Frost Insulation and Allied Workers, Local 60.
At that time there were two long time employees Mr. Bigham relied on and had faith in that would continue his legacy. They were Bob Bryant and Jim Collier. In 1986 Bob and Jim bought the businesses as Mr. Bigham`s health was failing and he wanted his businesses to continue on. Unfortunately, in June 2015 Bob Bryant passed away. Jim Collier has continue on as owner of both thriving companies.
Jim Collier has been with Bigham Insulation since 1962. He started out as a young man sweeping the floors and unloading boxcars full of insulation. From there he worked as the Warehouse Manager for many years, later he became Sparta Insulation`s estimator, then a Field Superintendent until Mr. Bigham decided he needed Jim in the office running the company. Now, as President of Bigham & Sparta Insulation Jim has vowed that he will continue on with the legacy of a great company that was established in 1958 along with his son and Vice President Kevin Collier.
A 50 year reputation, based upon the ability to give the customer what they want, when they want it.
